At the same time, a very successful TV Director, a Variety programmes producer, a Star Creator, and impresario, Simon Asmar, launched in 1972, a totally new talent search TV show that helped discover some of the greatest singers, performers, and artists on the Arab scene.
Simon Asmar has singlehandedly raised this program to become one of the biggest audience-grabbers in the region, sometimes reaching 92% of TV Viewers in the Lebanon, on Tele Liban (Lebanese National TV Channel), and then later through two other Television companies: Lebanese Broadcasting International, LBCI, and (recently) Murr Television MTV, Lebanon.
Along this, Simon Asmar has an experience in Television that stretches over more than 45 years, during which he has offered the best-remembered TV Programs, and also held some of the highest key Jobs in TV, ranging from director of Gameshows and Comedy and Drama series, to Producer and Director of Kids’ programs, Contests, Cultural and Artistic Programs, Variety shows, and Political Shows, To Head of Variety Department, to Head of Public Relations, to Member of Programming Board, and alongside, Producer and Director in more than a Radio Channel, and Head of Programming and Marketing in one of the Leading Radio Stations in Lebanon in the Eighties.
As an Impresario, Simon Asmar helped plan, organize, upgrade and even simply conceive from Scratch the careers of dozens of Lebanese and Arab Stars, singers and performers who, under his management, reached their peaks in regional and international recognition and stardom;
As an entrepreneur, Simon Asmar built the Studio el Fan Company, to shape the Careers of his young protégés, and Nahr el Funun (Restaurant and Cabaret), where most of the Young Stars of “Studio el Fan” went on stage for the first time. Through these companies and through Simon Asmar’s work, a whole new Music industry and a new nightlife management industry have been re-born in Lebanon, and spread to the Region.
